Hengyi’s practice includes the preparation and procurement of patents in the electronics and computer fields. He has a broad technological background including video coding, broadband and broadcast communications, image processing apparatuses, and semiconductors.
Hengyi also provides counseling on various matters, such as standards-related patent matters, portfolio management, and drafting/prosecution strategies. He regularly conducts interviews with patent examiners to ensure effective prosecution of patent applications.
Prior to joining Banner Witcoff, Hengyi worked at a renowned intellectual property law firm in the Washington, D.C. area, focusing on patent preparation and procurement. While in law school, Hengyi served as a judicial intern for Judge Craig Mitchell of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County.
Hengyi is admitted to practice in the State of Virginia. Practice in the District of Columbia is limited to matters and proceedings before federal courts and agencies.
