Janet practices primarily in the area of trademark law. She has experience working with a range of clients, industries and technologies on a variety of intellectual property matters, with a particular focus on trademark prosecution and enforcement, and online enforcement and strategy.
Prior to joining Banner Witcoff, Janet practiced at an IP boutique law firm in Washington, D.C, where she reviewed a broad spectrum of intellectual property matters, including trademark portfolio management and domain name management. She also has experience with online brand enforcement, and takedown proceedings to recover infringing domain names, including through the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDPR). Janet has written on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the impact of EU regulations on online brand enforcement.
Following law school, Janet gained valuable experience as a law clerk for a Maryland circuit judge. She leverages her previous law firm experience and clerkship to help clients develop strategic approaches to protect and enforce their trademarks and other intellectual property rights.
During law school, Janet served as the senior note and comment editor for American University International Law Review and editor of the Intellectual Property Brief. She also was a dean’s fellow for the Glushko-Samuelson Intellectual Property Law Clinic and involved with the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.
Janet is committed to diversity and inclusion efforts in the legal profession as a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and through the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession.
