Eliza focuses her practice on helping clients protect, strengthen, and strategically leverage their intellectual property. She advises innovators across a wide range of technologies, such as electrical systems, avionics and flight control systems, telecommunications, financial services, software, data security, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems—providing practical, business-aligned guidance on patent prosecution, litigation, and portfolio development.
Clients benefit from Eliza’s uniquely integrated background of engineering, industry, and government experience. Before entering private practice, Eliza served as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where she examined applications involving computerized vehicle controls, robotics, wave-based communication, and nuclear systems. Her commitment to quality was recognized by the Office of Patent Quality Assurance (OPQA). She also brings prior industry experience as a lead electrical engineer at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), where she specialized in electrical power systems for the T-45 trainer aircraft. This background gives her a deep understanding of how the technologies she protects work and how to communicate them effectively to the USPTO, courts, and stakeholders.
Eliza earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law while working full time, demonstrating the work ethic and commitment she brings to her clients. During law school, she was both a Banner Witcoff summer associate and a full-time law clerk. She also worked as a student attorney in the Community Development Clinic, providing pro bono legal services to nonprofits, small businesses, and community organizations.
Eliza is active in the broader intellectual property community and currently serves as treasurer of the Korean American Intellectual Property Bar Association (KAIPBA).
Outside of her legal practice, she manages a small portfolio of investment properties, competes in USA Powerlifting (USAPL) events, hikes with her dog, and enjoys hosting dinner clubs with friends.
