Banner Witcoff attorney Robert S. Katz will moderate a panel at the 18th Open Forum of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI), set to take place from Oct. 9-12 in Vienna, Austria.

Rob will moderate an Oct. 10 session exploring the protection of product configurations in the current climate. Rob and the panelists — Michael Conway, partner at Haseltine Lake; Shirley Fu of Sanyou IP Group; and Jaime Lemons, vice president of trademark and design at NIKE — will discuss the requirements to obtain product configuration trademark rights in various jurisdictions, as well as challenges and tips to acquiring these rights.

Rob is vice president of FICPI’s U.S. Section and serves as liaison to FICPI for the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law.

FICPI is a global organization supporting intellectual property attorneys. Now in its 18th year, FICPI’s Open Forum provides attendees with updates on important developments in IP law, as well as opportunities to network and exchange ideas with practitioners from around the world.

Banner Witcoff attorney Scott M. Kelly will speak at the 20th Annual Virginia Intellectual Property Legal Institute on Oct. 4 in Fairfax, Virginia.

Scott will lead a session about patent developments and will discuss patentable subject matter, prior art, cease-and-desist letters, time bars in IPRS, and PTAB reviews.

Now in its 20th year, the Virginia Intellectual Property Legal Institute provides attendees with updates on important legal developments in IP law over the past year. The next North Shore Corporate IP Roundtable program will take place on Oct. 11 in Northbrook, where the discussion will focus on IP due diligence in corporate transactions.

Sponsored by Banner Witcoff, the program will feature speakers Christine Castellano and Sara Vinarov, Ph.D. Christine is a global Fortune 500 general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer, as well as a certified diversity professional. Banner Witcoff attorney Joseph J. Berghammer will moderate a panel on Sept. 25 at the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) 47th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Joe, a member of the IPO’s Annual Meeting Program Committee, will moderate a panel exploring practices to protect product and product packaging trade dress. The panel will address strategies to obtain and maintain these rights, distinctions in protectability among jurisdictions, and the risks and rewards to registering product and product packaging rights.
