Banner Witcoff Elects Five New Shareholders in Chicago and D.C. Offices

January 22, 2026 – Banner Witcoff announces the election of five new shareholders, effective immediately. The new shareholders span the firm’s Chicago and Washington, D.C. offices, devoted to protecting their clients’ intellectual property and propelling businesses forward.

The new class of shareholders includes: 

Brian Apel, Principal Shareholder, Chicago

Brian has experience in all stages of litigation from pre-suit diligence and claim construction to trials and appeals. Leveraging his experience as an Engineering Duty Officer in the U.S. Navy, Brian can handle all kinds of technology and has knowledge in a wide spectrum of technical disciplines.

Anthony Denis, Principal Shareholder, Chicago

Anthony has helped prominent brand owners enforce their rights. He has also helped clients defend against infringement and related claims.

Daniel Moon, Principal Shareholder, Washington, D.C.

Daniel is dedicated to helping clients with a variety of patent legal services ranging from patent prosecution, PTAB post-grant proceedings, due diligence, and infringement and invalidity opinions. 

Rebecca Ding, Shareholder, Washington, D.C.

Rebecca’s patent practice spans prosecution, litigation, and counseling, with a focus on cutting-edge technologies such as telecommunications, AI, VR/AR, data storage, semiconductors, and medical devices.

Simon Lasker, Shareholder, Washington, D.C.

Simon has assisted clients in a range of technical fields, including mechanical arts, mechatronics, additive manufacturing, aerospace, optical photonics, computer science, renewable energy, medical devices, and telecommunications. His practice focuses on post-grant proceedings, including IPR and ex parte reexam, as well as prosecution and strategic counseling.
