Sonia focuses primarily on design patent and trademark prosecution, counseling, and enforcement matters. She prepares and prosecutes design patent applications on a global scale and assists in design patent counseling for various multinational companies. She also helps with the prosecution and enforcement of trademark matters for numerous clients.
As an associate, Sonia successfully leverages her years of experience in Banner Witcoff’s Design Department, where she served as a design patent prosecution specialist, a paralegal, and eventually a senior paralegal. She has experience managing the global design portfolios for several Fortune 500 companies and acting as a mentor to new and current staff members. Sonia was also a law clerk at Banner Witcoff for over a year before transitioning to associate.
Sonia graduated from The George Washington University Law School in May 2020 with a Juris Doctor degree. Her article, “Virtual Influencers: Stretching the Boundaries of Intellectual Property Governing Digital Creations” was published in the American Bar Association’s Landslide magazine, and her note, “Determining the ‘Article of Manufacture’ in Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Design Patents,” was published in the Winter 2020 issue of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Quarterly Journal.
Sonia is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland. Practice in the District of Columbia is limited to matters and proceedings before federal courts and agencies
