Banner Witcoff continues the expansion of its litigation practice with the arrival of Paul T. Qualey, who brings nearly 20 years of experience in intellectual property law to the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
Paul comes to Banner Witcoff from Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP. He focuses his practice on patent litigation in the federal courts, at the International Trade Commission, and in inter partes reviews before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Paul — who worked in software development and systems integration prior to becoming an attorney — has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in patent infringement cases involving a variety of technologies in the software, telecommunications, automotive, and construction industries.
Beyond litigation, Paul has experience with patent prosecution, counseling and opinions, and licensing and due diligence. He also has extensive experience representing Japanese clients and some of the challenges they face navigating IP disputes in the United States.
“Paul is an accomplished litigator with impressive experience that complements our litigation practice,” said Banner Witcoff President Binal Patel. “He’s an outstanding addition to the firm and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the Banner Witcoff team.”
Paul said, “Banner Witcoff has distinguished itself as a go-to firm for intellectual property law. I am excited to join a firm with a 100-year history and look forward to helping Banner Witcoff and our clients build on their success.”
