Michael Cuviello is quoted in a Bloomberg Law article on small claims board. The article discusses the notion of establishing a small claims patent court as a similar copyright dispute board gets ready to launch.
Michael told the article, “it’s just a different beast altogether,” noting that patent claims could involve technical complexities that make it challenging for patent owners to represent themselves. He went on to add that there are benefits for plaintiffs and defendants to have a forum for smaller claims. For example, it’s “less attractive” for a plaintiff to bring a $2 million lawsuit in federal district court if it would cost $1 million to bring and maintain that litigation.
