Kirk Sigmon Examines Video Game Monetization Patents for Georgetown Law Technology Review

Banner Witcoff attorney Kirk Sigmon wrote an article for the latest issue of the Georgetown Law Technology Review that explores the growing trend of patents directed to video game monetization techniques.

In his article, Kirk takes a deep dive into the trend, as well its history, the various strategies used by video game companies, and criticisms raised over video game addiction. He also examines whether a revival of the moral utility doctrine would remedy concerns related to video game monetization strategies.

Kirk’s article, “Pay to Play: Video Game Monetization Patents and the Doctrine of Moral Utility,” is available on Georgetown Law Technology Review‘s website and as a PDF in our Library.
