November 10, 2021 – Banner Witcoff, a national intellectual property law firm that procures, enforces and litigates intellectual property rights throughout the world, welcomes five new associates to its Chicago and Washington, D.C. offices.
Rachel Bender, Chicago, focuses her practice on patent and trademark litigations. Prior to joining Banner Witcoff, Rachel worked on the engineering side of the energy industry, creating efficient implementation methods to increase productivity. Rachel was also a business consultant.
She earned her B.S. in petroleum engineering from the University of Kansas and her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law
Jesse Dyer, Chicago, concentrates on patent litigation. He has experience working on a wide range of technologies such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, recombinant proteins, drug development, and wireless network communications. He uses his trial experience to assist clients with freedom-to-operate matters, due diligence investigations, patent drafting, invalidity/infringement opinions, and licensing transactions
Jesse earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the DePaul University College of Law.
Simon Lasker*, DC, focuses on patent prosecution and counseling. As a patent agent at Banner Witcoff, he has assisted clients in prosecuting patents in a range of technical fields including, mechanical, mechatronic, aerospace and computer science.
Simon earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
Lawrence Nwaesei, Chicago, has a broad range of experience handling a variety of intellectual property matters. In particular, he has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in computer hardware, software, and electromechanical technologies including machine-learning systems, autonomous vehicles, mapping systems, user interfaces, distributed storage systems, and network traffic devices.
Lawrence earned a B.S. in computer science, with honors, from Wayne State University and his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Alaina Pak, Chicago, focuses on patent litigation and prosecution. Alaina used her biomedical engineering background at the Silicon Valley USPTO where she conducted patent research and drafted office actions for medical devices. She also worked at a global biologics company where she analyzed cancer-targeting drugs.
She is a graduate of USC Gould School of Law and earned her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, summa cum laude, from George Washington University.
* Simon has passed his bar exam and is waiting for admission to the bar. His admission is schedule for January 2022.
