Banner Witcoff, a national intellectual property law firm that procures, enforces, and litigates intellectual property rights throughout the world, welcomes Abraham J. Varon and Qi Yu as associate attorneys to its Chicago office.
Abraham J. Varon brings a diversified practice within patent litigation. Before joining Banner Witcoff, AJ worked as an associate at a Chicago-based intellectual property boutique. There, his representative technologies encompassed a wide range of pharmaceutical technologies, as well as artificial turf underlayment systems. AJ assisted with multiple district court patent litigations, including preparing for both a bench and jury trial, as well as multiple inter partes review proceedings and appeals in the Federal Circuit.
AJ earned his law degree from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, graduating cum laude, where he served as Executive Editor for the Journal of Technology & Intellectual Property.
Qi Yu specializes in patent prosecution, PTAB litigation, and client counseling, with a strong focus on diverse technologies including electrical, telecommunications, software, and computer-related fields. Qi also has experience in patent litigation at the district court level and arbitration-type dispute resolution.
In addition to her law firm experience, Qi has served as in-house counsel at a major U.S. multinational technology corporation in Shanghai, China. She is qualified as China Attorney-at-Law and Patent Agent.
Prior to her legal career, Qi was a system engineer at a prominent German multinational technology corporation renowned for its cellular communications technology.
