Banner Witcoff’s Chris Glembocki will be part of the US industry delegation to the Trilateral Offices and Users meeting in Raleigh, North Carolina, from November 7-9. The US industry delegation comprises representatives from both the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and the Intellectual Property Owners (IPO) association.
The Trilateral Offices consist of the EPO, USPTO, and JPO. Meeting regularly since 2004 as the Trilateral Harmonization Working Group, the Trilateral Offices seek to define a reduced package of patent harmonization provisions that would be adopted world-wide with additional harmonization packages to follow. Shortly after the Trilateral Offices started meeting, AIPLA and IPO were invited to represent American Industry during the meetings of the Trilateral Offices as well during the meetings of the IP5 (an international forum for discussions between the US Patent Office, the European Patent Office, the Japanese Patent Office, the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and the China National Intellectual Property Administration). As a member of AIPLA’s Harmonization Committee, Chris will be assisting the US industry delegation during discussions of the following topics:
- Non-Prejudicial Disclosures/ Grace Periods
- Publication of Applications
- Conflicting Applications
- Prior User Rights
