On August 16, 2010 a federal judge rejected Humanscale Corp.’s post-trial attempts to overturn a jury verdict against it in its battle with CompX International Inc. The case involves keyboard support systems patents. In February, a jury found that Humanscale’s products infringed CompX’s patents and awarded CompX about $19 million in past damages. The jury also determined that Humanscale should pay CompX a reasonable royalty rate of 6 percent of its sales of the infringing products from Jan. 1, 2010, until the patents expired on June 13. The case is Humanscale Corp. v. CompX International Inc. et al.
