Shareholder Scott M. Kelly will moderate a panel at the inaugural meeting of The Sedona Conference Working Group 13 on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Law, taking place on Thursday, January 16.

The panel, titled “Patenting and Copyrighting of AI-Generated Content,” will examine the current approaches taken by the U.S. Copyright Office and the Patent Office toward AI-generated works. The discussion will also explore whether entirely new concepts of “invention” and “creation” are needed to address the increasing integration of AI in human innovation.

Scott will be joined by an esteemed group of panelists, including Dr. Ryan Abbott (University of Surrey), Lestin Kenton (Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox), Matthew D. Powers (Tensegrity Law Group), and Kathi Vidal (Winston & Strawn and former Director of the USPTO).
