Jia assists in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in a wide range of engineering fields. She also assists in the analysis and preparation of patent reexamination and inter-partes review. Her expertise spans multiple facets of electrical and mechanical engineering, including communication technologies, wireless devices, multimedia coding, solar modules, LNG infrastructure, and medical devices. She has significant experience in prior art research and analysis, and the drafting of applications related to wireless communication standards and point cloud compression standards.
Jia’s patent prosecution experience and extensive research skills enable her to accurately understand the inventions in a variety of fields. She is detail-oriented and quickly grasps the key issues and keeps every need in mind. Her abilities are especially suitable for projects that need comprehensiveness and/or inventive solutions.
Prior to joining Banner Witcoff, Jia worked in several first-tier patent research companies in the U.S. and had significant patent prosecution experience in China as a registered patent attorney. She obtained her B.S. in mechanical engineering and automation from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. She obtained her master’s degree in intellectual property from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. As part of her master studies, she focused on patent law, technology licensing, and IP management. She was registered as a patent agent in the U.S. in 2019.
