His expertise covers key areas of electrical engineering, including communication technologies, wireless devices, video processing, consumer electronic devices, and solar power technologies. He has significant experience in the drafting and prosecution of applications related to wireless communication and video coding standards.
Billy’s experience includes patent examination and software development in all phases. He specializes in patent application in relation to computer network and technology, including cloud computing, social media and artificial intelligence. He is knowledgeable in the patent application process and proficient in prior art searching for determining patentability. With his experience of patent examining and software development, he is skilled to understand sophisticated inventions and safeguard clients’ intellectual property with precision and care.
Prior to joining Banner Witcoff, Billy served as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and an engineer in the U.S. Navy. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees, both in electrical engineering, from the University of Maryland. As part of his experience, he focused on reviewing patent applications and developing and maintaining software.
