Patent Prosecution Ethics Recent Cases from the USPTO Office of Enrollment and Discipline | CLE Webinar

Banner Witcoff’s Kirk Sigmon will lead a discussion on patent ethics during a one-hour CLE webinar on Thursday, August 14, at 11:30 a.m. CDT (12:30 p.m. EDT).

Kirk will discuss the implementation of applicable patent ethics rules by analyzing recent cases and issues, including newer 2025 cases, from the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s Office of Enrollment and Discipline.

The presentation will focus on the procedure with which ethics complaints are brought, rules on neglect under 37 CFR § 11.103, rules relating to falsehoods under 37 CFR § 11.401, rules relating to fees under 37 CFR § 11.105, rules relating to the unauthorized practice of law under 37 CFR § 11.505, and the new U.S. Counsel Rule under 37 C.F.R. 2.11(a).

The webinar will provide attorneys with a better understanding of common ethics traps in modern patent law, and how to avoid them.
