Washington, DC – May 8, 2007. Banner & Witcoff’s new Washington, DC office won the International Interior Design Association’s (IIDA) bronze award for interior architectural design at the IIDA awards ceremony April 26, 2007. The intellectual property law firm’s architectural firm, OTJ Architects accepted the award. The award category included commercial design projects between 20,000 and 100,000SF. Banner & Witcoff recently relocated its Washington office to the 31,651 SF space in a new Class A building at 1100 13th St. NW Washington, DC.

OTJ Architects designed the space to highlight the commanding views of the city and to create an open, inviting work environment. The overall floor plan maximizes daylight to the interiors through extensive glass walled conference rooms, clerestory windows and glass lights in all office doors. Curved, laminated, bronze-color acrylic panels hang below the ceiling to add interest to the corridors. The corridors lead to the workstations that are made of curly maple with insets of acrylic panels.

Fine details unify the overall project from floating ceilings to eucalyptus millwork. The plan features a reception area adorned with Italian ceramic tile floors, stone mosaic accent walls, a reception desk made of durable metal panels, backlit painted glass and a solid onyx transaction ledge. A hand woven wool/silk rug, custom made drum light fixtures, and a vintage marble cocktail table complete the design.

The general contractor was Regency Commercial Construction. For additional information on OTJ Architects contact Laura Knox at knox@otj.com or visit http://www.otj.com/.
