Banner & Witcoff welcomes associate Richard C. Pokropski to its Washington, D.C. office.
Mr. Pokropski focuses his practice on a range of intellectual property issues in a variety of electrical and computer technologies, including electrical power, signal processing, multimedia, and telecommunications systems and devices.
Before practicing law, Mr. Pokropski served as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. In the Coast Guard, he worked as a telecommunications engineer, where he resolved multimillion dollar very high frequency (VHF) and ultra high frequency (UHF) shipboard communications issues to support counter-narcotics operations along the U.S. southern border. He also served as a shipboard electronics and intelligence officer on two cutters, where he was responsible for every facet of electronic navigation, military encryption, and VHF and UHF radio communications. During his final tour, he was a Regional Director for Electronics and Information Technology, where he delivered telecommunications solutions to support hurricane recovery operations.
He earned his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University Law School; M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Rhode Island; and B.S. in electrical engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Banner & Witcoff also welcomes patent agent Darwin T. Rinderer to its Washington, D.C. office.
Mr. Rinderer focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the mechanical, biomedical, electrical and computer art areas, with special emphasis on medical devices, additive manufacturing, Internet applications, network architecture, and cloud computing.
He earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering, with a focus in biomechanics, from George Washington University.
