Banner Witcoff is excited to announce its new class of first-year associates in the firm’s Chicago and Washington, DC offices.
David Glass, Jacob Hinish, and Mary Kate Nowak are the latest additions to the seasoned team of more than 110 attorneys.
David Glass*, D.C., focuses on patent prosecution and litigation. Before his legal career, he worked as a design electrical engineer for an international semiconductor manufacturing equipment company. For four years, he worked on the concept and feasibility team, focusing his design efforts on new heat control and robot control systems, as well as electrical safety systems. David received his B.S. in electrical engineering, graduating with distinction from Clarkson University, and received his law degree from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law.
Jacob Hinish*, D.C., works on a variety of matters including, patent prosecution, litigation, and PTAB proceedings. Jacob has a background in electrical engineering and is interested in digital communications, IoT devices, and nanotechnology. He obtained his B.S. in electrical engineering from Yale University, where he worked with a research team, assisting with the development of reliable methods to measure nano-porous GaN thin-film deposition. Jacob received his law degree from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law.
Mary Kate Nowak, Chicago, focuses on multiple intellectual property matters, including patent litigation and patent prosecution. Mary began her career as a mechanical engineer at a multinational healthcare company. She gained valuable industry insight into the research and development process by designing and testing electromechanical hardware systems for different medical devices. Additionally, she is named as an inventor on one pending patent. Mary graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. She went on to receive her J.D. from the Chicago – Kent College of Law.
*David and Jacob have passed the bar exam and are waiting for admission to the bar.
