Mr. Katz will join designers, lawyers, practitioners and scholars in a roundtable discussion on the identification and clarification of the conflicts that exist in the current state of the legal art relating to design patents.
In the last several years design-related intellectual property has emerged as a mainstream policy issue. Even now, the U.S. Supreme Court is determining whether to hear a case confronting provisions of the current design IP legal structure.
The event is co-sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania Law School, the University of Pennsylvania Integrated Product Design Program and the Industrial Designers Society of America.
This event hopes to create the opportunity to develop a professional consensus to influence the direction of future legislation and other policy work.
