Skechers U.S.A., Inc. v. NIKE, Inc. Nos. IPR2017-00607, IPR2017-00608, IPR2017-00617, IPR2017-00619, IPR2017-00620, IPR2017-00621, IPR2017-00623, at the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

On July 6, 2017, the PTAB denied five petitions for inter partes review filed by Skechers, aimed at invalidating design patents relating to popular NIKE FREE midsole and outsole designs that appear on various NIKE shoe models. These were a second round of petitions covering the Banner & Witcoff-prosecuted patents at issue in Skechers U.S.A., Inc. v. NIKE, Inc. Nos. IPR2016-00870, etc. The PTAB held hearings on the two petitions that were instituted on April 12, 2018.

Banner & Witcoff attorneys Christopher J. Renk, Audra C. Eidem Heinze and Kurt C. Riester represented NIKE in these matters.
