Seagate Technology LLC v. Enova Technology Corp.

Seagate Technology LLC v. Enova Technology Corp. Nos. IPR2014-00683, IPR2014-01178, IPR2014-01297 and IPR2014-01449, at the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Banner & Witcoff client Seagate Technology won a clean sweep of four inter partes reviews that rendered unpatentable two patents of Enova Technology. The patents relate to computer storage device encryption technology and were asserted against Seagate by Enova in district court litigation. In a series of four Final Written Decisions issued between September 2, 2015 and February 4, 2016, the PTAB found all of the claims of both patents invalid as obvious over prior art asserted in the IPR petitions. Banner & Witcoff worked with Faegre Baker Daniels LLP in the representation.

Banner & Witcoff attorneys Joseph M. Potenza, Bradley C. Wright and Michael S. Cuviello represented Seagate in these matters.
