Peter D. McDermott co-chairs the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Ninth Annual In-House Counsel Conference on Friday, December 9, 2011. The theme of the MBA’s Ninth Annual In-House Counsel Conference is “Risk Management.” This program has been designed to present in-house counsel with information from in-house practitioners, outside counsel and others on various topics that will aid in-house counsel in managing risks and controlling costs in their organizations.

Mr. McDermott will also be making a “lightning round” presentation on the new America Invents Act. The “lightning round” presentations are brief presentations concerning current developments of interest to in-house counsel. These will include recent decisions of the Business Law Session of the Massachusetts Superior Court Department, patent law developments, developments relating to the discovery of metadata, risks relating to disqualification of counsel in litigation and the current status of resale price restrictions in light of changing federal antitrust law and differing state laws.
