Paul’s practice focuses on a range of intellectual property matters, with an emphasis on patent prosecution and opinion counseling. Paul has more than a decade’s experience in engineering, including designing hardware for embedded systems and creating test procedures, configuration management, and life cycle maintenance for election related systems. Paul’s legal experience includes extensive prosecution experience with electrical and mechanical hardware patents as well as software and business method patents.

Paul’s background in computer engineering and his experience as an engineer helps Paul grow the patent portfolios of clients of all sizes. He has helped clients obtain domestic and foreign patent protection in a wide variety of areas including cutting edge and growing areas of technology such as quantum-enabled sensors, the Internet-of-Things (IoT), cryptocurrencies and related infrastructure, and artificial intelligence.

Paul is a graduate of The John Marshall Law School (now University of Illinois at Chicago Law School) and received a Certificate in IP Law: Patent Track from its highly-regarded Intellectual Property Law Program. During law school, Paul served as an editor of the John Marshall Review of Intellectual Property Law Journal.
