Culture

At Banner & Witcoff, we employ a merit-based promotion system that rewards performance not tenure. Associates can become shareholders within four and one-half years of graduation from law school and can achieve principal shareholder status in seven and one-half years.

We also manage our firm democratically, giving each shareholder one vote. Our board of directors is elected by the shareholders, and no board member may serve for more than two consecutive three-year terms. Our executive director, a full time business manager, also oversees the day to day operations of our firm.

We are continually working to provide our attorneys with the tools and support they need to serve existing clients and attract new business. Our firm is committed to pursuing and adopting technologies that make our practice more efficient, and all attorneys are provided laptops which are seamlessly linked to the electronic resources in each of our offices. We engender a cooperative environment, with offices and individuals supporting each other to provide the best possible solution to client problems and needs. We also maintain an active marketing, advertising and business development program, managed by a full-time marketing director, to reach key client audiences.

Diversity

At Banner & Witcoff we believe that people with diverse experiences produce creative thinking, multiple perspectives on issues, and innovative problem-solving techniques in the practice of intellectual property law. That is why we are committed to creating and fostering a firm culture that values the differences among its attorneys, legal professionals, and support staff. Differences in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual-orientation, education, culture, religion, age, physical ability, and socioeconomic background strengthen our successes as a firm through better representation of our clients and our employees.

With this understanding, Banner & Witcoff is dedicated to diversity, equal opportunity, and a culture of mutual respect within the firm and in our relationships with our clients. Our firm is committed to recruiting, retaining, mentoring, and promoting a diverse workforce. Banner & Witcoff is also engaged in organizations which promote diversity within the legal spectrum. Finally, we have implemented a strong equal opportunity policy that values the differences of individual attorneys and support staff to ensure that our commitments are met.
