Banner & Witcoff Obtains Second Multimillion-dollar Award for SunTiger, Inc.

Banner & Witcoff, Ltd. announced today that it won an award of $2.5 million in damages for SunTiger, Inc. in a patent infringement arbitration in Los Angeles.

This arbitration concluded over 11 years of enforcement by Banner & Witcoff of patents owned by SunTiger, Inc. This is the second multimillion-dollar award for damages obtained by Banner & Witcoff. Numerous other summary judgments and consent judgments for patent infringement and patent validity were obtained by Banner & Witcoff over the years.

The patented technology at issue originated from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (“JPL”), which is managed for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (“NASA”) by the California Institute of Technology. JPL is the lead U.S. center for robotic exploration of the solar system. The patented technology protects human eyesight by blocking dangerous blue, violet, and ultraviolet light and allowing substantial transmission of wavelengths of light that are useful for visual acuity.
