U.S. House of Representatives passes Innovation Act

December 5, 2013
On Dec. 5, 2013, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 325-91 to pass the Innovation Act (H.R. 3309). The bill, introduced by Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., seeks to amend the America Invents Act to address abusive behavior by patent owners in infringement litigation.
The U.S. Senate will now consider companion legislation. The differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill would need to be reconciled before final legislation could be sent to President BarackĀ Obama for his signature.
