DMV Corporate IP Roundtable to Explore Generative AI and its Impacts on Legal Practice

The DMV Corporate IP Roundtable will be held in person on Thursday, May 18 in Vienna, Virginia, catering to the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginal (DMV) regions. The discussion will focus on generative AI and its impacts on legal practice.

Banner Witcoff Shareholder Joshua Davenport will expand upon his April 25 Roundtable Webinar, AI-Assisted Drafting in IP: Examining Prosecution in the Post-ChatGPT World, by focusing on the in-house IP counsel perspective with regard to the challenges to be addressed. There is a growing need to set guidelines for how outside counsel uses generative AI in their practice, particularly when dealing with confidential material. Further, there are operational concerns regarding what tasks need to be sent to outside counsel, and if budgets are affected. We will examine these issues and theorize on what a framework for IP practice in a post-ChatGPT world looks like.

Lunch will be provided, and an application for 1 hour of CLE credit will be sought in VA. Attendees must register in advance. To register or for more information on the DMV Corporate IP Roundtable programs, email klaufenberg@bannerwitcoff.com.

Banner Witcoff launched the North Shore Corporate IP Roundtable program in 2017 in the Chicago metropolitan area. Due to its success, the firm expanded the initiative to two additional locations — Chicago’s west suburbs and in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area.
